Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) occurs when the veins in your legs have trouble sending blood back to your heart, causing blood to pool which in turn increases the pressure inside your veins. This can lead to significant symptoms that adversely affect quality of life including leg swelling, heaviness, leg fatigue, leg cramps, restless legs, bulging veins, skin changes, and/or even ulcers. CVI is treatable, especially when caught early.
