Avocados and  Heart Health

In a large study of US men and women, after adjusting for lifestyle and other dietary factors, it was found that those who eat a larger amount of avocado had a lower risk of coronary and cardiovascular disease.

  • Compared with not eating avocados, eating at least two servings of avocado per week may lower your cardiovascular disease risk by 16% and coronary heart disease by 21%.  
  • For every half serving increase in avocado intake per day, there was a 20% lower risk for cardiovascular disease.

Consider using an avocado for replacement of butter, margarine, egg, yogurt, or processed meats in your diet for good heart benefits!
