Tips for Staying on a Healthy Track during the Holidays

PLAN! PLAN! PLAN!  Life during the holiday time can become overly busy with events and extra obligations. Planning ahead can help keep you on track to feeling your best. 

  1. Bulk prep meals or make double portions to have on hand to grab and go when time is tight.
  2. Don’t skip meals!  Have a healthy snack, such as a small portion of unsalted nuts or a natural protein source, before going to a holiday party. If you arrive less hungry, you will be less likely to overindulge on treats.
  3. Limit your alcohol and festive drink intake as this can be a significant amount of excess calories.
  4. Bring a healthy dish to a holiday gathering that you know is “safe” for you to eat without regret!
  5. Schedule some exercise into the day as an essential item. It will help curb stress, increase mental focus, and boost your mood, not to mention help you burn off extra holiday treat calories.  Even a short walk can provide great benefits.
